2008 ELECTION - VOTING INSTRUCTIONS
To All Eligible Voters:
The November 4 elections are only a few months away. Please take action now to allow sufficient time to request your ballot and cast your vote. This election is too exciting to miss your chance to vote!
THE BASIC ABSENTEE VOTING PROCESS
Step 1: Citizen completes and mails the Registration and Absentee Ballot Request Form (Federal Post Card Application, SF-76), located at http://www.fvap.gov/overseas-citizens/index.html. The addresses for county election officials in each state are provided in the Voting Assistance Guide at http://www.fvap.gov/for-voting-assistance-officers/vote-guide/index.html Preprinted forms and the Voting Assistance Guide are also available in the Consular Office during American Citizen Services hours (Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, 1:00 - 3:00, and Wednesday 10:00 - 2:00).
Step 2: Local Election Official approves the request form or contacts the citizen for further information.
Step 3: Local Election Official mails the absentee ballot.
Step 4: Citizen votes and mails the absentee ballot to the Local Election Official in time to meet state deadlines. State election deadlines are listed at http://www.fvap.gov/reference/links/index.html.
