Ambassador presents Vice Admiral Cosgriff with the Distinguished Service Medal
On July 5, 2008 Ambassador Ereli presented Vice Admiral Kevin Cosgriff with the Distinguished Service Medal during the change of command ceremony of the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command. While in command for 17 months, Cosgriff led more than 25,000 U.S. and Coalition forces that operate continuously in the region to provide security and stability to the region. Present in the photo are Vice Adm. William Gortney, and Command Master Chief Jeffrey A. Covington. Gortney relieved Cosgriff as the Commander of the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. 5th Fleet/Combined Maritime Forces.
